Buses are treated as “common carriers” along with trains, airplanes, and ships for proposes of tort liabilityCommon carriers generally and buses specifically are highly regulated by federal and state authorities.  Common carriers generally must exercise a high degree of care and diligence to ensure their passengers are safe.  Often times, the operators of buses are liable for falling short of the standards imposed on them by law.  The California Highway Patrol is investigating the cause of the bus collision however, the CHP’s scope of investigation does not extend to the evaluation of civil liability.  The attorneys at Kalfayan Merjanian have the experience to navigate through the complexities of common carrier tort liability and the resources to fully investigate the causes of these types of catastrophic injuries.

Any incident resulting in fatalities is a difficult time for families and friends of victims.  Often times, there is little, if any, information regarding the the facts and circumstances of a catastrophic event.  It becomes frustrating for family and friends who need information.  When tragedy strikes, a compassionate and experienced attorney can help families navigate through times that are emotionally and physically trying.  Kalfayan and Merjanian, LLP is investigating this catastrophic accident.
