An SUV driver who struck and critically injured a 44-year-old woman trying to cross a Corona street remained at large Monday, April 24

An SUV driver who struck and critically injured a 44-year-old woman trying to cross a Corona street remained at large Monday, April 24, as investigators continued to seek witnesses who may be able to identify the suspect.

Dora Bran of Riverside was hit by the black 2006 ML Series Mercedes-Benz shortly before 5 p.m. Friday, according to Corona police.
The victim was attempting to cross the intersection of Sixth Street and Vicentia Avenue when she was run over by the SUV, whose driver was turning onto Vicentia Avenue from Sixth Street, Detective Andy Bryant said.

Bran suffered life-threatening injuries and remains on life support at Riverside Community Hospital, according to police.
Since the hit-and-run, investigators have obtained video from area security surveillance cameras indicating that the suspect, believed to be a woman, fled the scene northbound on Vicentia Avenue and turned onto Cota Street, going toward Parkridge Street when she vanished from sight, Bryant said.

The SUV’s airbags deployed, and the vehicle sustained minor to moderate front-end damage in the hit-and-run, Bryant said.
Anyone with information on the collision was asked to contact the Corona police traffic bureau at (951) 817-5784.
