samsung-note-7-news-all-new-units-recalled-in-south-korea-due-to-multiple-battery-explosion-incidentsSamsung will be recalling newly released Note 7 Phablet after reported defect causing explosions

The newly released Samsung Galaxy Note 7 has casued safety risks after multiple reports of explosions. Samsung has confirmed the issue, advised customers to power down the phone, refrain from charging and will issue a formal recall shortly for the device that is stated to have over 2.5 million users. Specifically, the unit’s lithium ion battery is overheating and exploding while in use or in charging. In some cases, the defect has reported to cause a car fire. The safety issue has caused so much concern that the Federal Aviation Administration has banned the Note 7’s use, checked stowage and charging while on jetliners. Additionally, the US Consumer Product Safety Commission(CPSC)-the federal agency charged with protecting consumers from dangerous devices-has issued the following statement:

Lithium-ion batteries pack a lot of power into a small package. When these batteries overheat and burst, the results can be serious. This is why the U.S Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) is urging all consumers who own a Samsung Galaxy Note7 to power them down and stop charging or using the device.

If you own this device, we urge you to power down and stop using it immediately. Users are advised to contact Samsung to receive a replacement or refund.
