ORANGE — A 36-year-old woman died and a man was critically injured when the car they were riding in ran into a wall exiting the 5 freeway in Orange on Tuesday night, April 25, police and fire officials said.  The 2008 Honda Accord, carrying two people, hit the brick wall about 9:15 p.m. at the Chapman Avenue offramp of the I-5 North freeway, according to the CHP traffic accident information page. The brick structure was on the right shoulder underneath the freeway.
Meghan Brown, of Orange, was the passenger and died shortly after the crash. The driver, 50-year-old Dana Flink of Orange, was taken to UCI Medical Center with major injuries, CHP said Wednesday morning.

In a news video reviewed by the Register, fire officials administered CPR to the passenger. The front-end of the car was smashed. In the video, Fieldhouse said the driver had to be extricated from the car.
CHP officials were still trying to determine what caused the vehicle to veer into the brick structure.
The cause of the crash was under investigation. Anyone who may have information regarding the crash is asked to call the California Highway Patrol Santa Ana office at 714-567-6000.
