PEDESTRIAN KILLED AT BUS STOP IN VERMONT SQUARE, SUSPECT SOUGHT BY POLICE

A pedestrian was killed Monday evening, September 26, 2016 near 449 W. 54th street in the Vermont Square neighborhood. The name of the victim, identified as a male in his 70s, is being withheld pending notification of the next of kin.  Authorities report  that a Buick sedan rear ended an SUV that was preparing to turn right into a driveway.  The collision with the Buick caused the SUV to lose control and crash into a man and woman in their 70s along with their 50-year-old daughter at an adjacent bus stop.  All three sustained injuries and were transported to the hospital.  The driver of the Buick who caused the collision fled the scene and is being sought by police. Unfortunately, the man later died from his injuries.  Our thoughts and condolences are with the family and friends of the deceased and injured
