SANTA ANA – Police on Tuesday, March 21, identified a suspect in a fatal hit-and-run last week as 45-year-old Luis Eduardo Distancia.
Distancia is suspected of being the driver of a white 2006 Ford Econoline van that crashed into a motorcyclist at 4:47 p.m. Friday, March 17, at Standard Avenue and Walnut Street, Santa Ana police said in an advisory seeking the public’s help finding the man.
The motorcyclist, Eduardo Estrada Luevano, 36, of Santa Ana, was taken by ambulance to Orange County Global Medical Center, where he died, according to the coroner’s office.

Video surveillance showed the van heading north on Standard, then turning left onto Walnut – in front of the motorcycle, which hit the van’s front right fender, the advisory said.
The driver fled, but was followed by a witness who jotted down the license plate and reported it to police. Police found the van the following day but Distancia wasn’t located.
He is described as a Hispanic man weighing 160 pounds, standing 5 feet, 10 inches with brown hair and brown eyes.
Anyone with information on Distancia’s whereabouts can contact police at 714-245-8214 or email [email protected]
